thimble duct means that the collar has performance to allow outsied air to pulled in a opposed to hard duct has no holes .the exhaust collar is then connected  to duct tube connected to an external blower why thimble duct must be used instead of hard duct ?the class2 type A2 can be create  its own balanced inflow and down flow using ist internal blower.if the cabinet is ducted and the external blower suctions is too strong ,then the inflow become too strong and down flowbecome too weak,causing product potential failure .therefore the thimble duct must be used where the extra suctions willll draw the air from the room and not from the cabinet plenum.
